McDonald's reported a 0.2% decline in U.S. same-store sales for the July-September quarter, the first drop since early 2025, though less severe than the 0.5% decline analysts expected. Traffic fell 2.6% across the fast-food sector as consumers grappled with higher gas prices and living costs.
Value Focus
The company restored in-app deals and emphasized value marketing, which helped push September same-store sales into positive territory. Chairman and CEO Chris Kempczinski said the cost-of-living pressure isn't going away and the company must deliver value.
Global Results
Globally, same-store sales rose 1.3%, driven by strength in Germany and Australia, offsetting weakness in France due to protests. Revenue rose 1% to $7.16 billion, missing estimates of $7.28 billion. Net income rose 9% to $2.49 billion, and adjusted earnings per share of $3.57 beat forecasts.
