Jake Paul Says He'll Retire if He Loses to Cedric Doumbe

By Salma El-Sakka

YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul has declared he will “hang up the gloves and call it a day” if he loses to former two-time Glory welterweight champion Cedric Doumbe in a professionally sanctioned eight-round cruiserweight bout at Dubai’s Coca-Cola Arena on December 24.

Comeback After Broken Jaw

Paul, 29, is returning to the ring after suffering a broken jaw in a sixth-round stoppage loss to Anthony Joshua in late 2025. He also previously lost to Tommy Fury, the brother of heavyweight champion Tyson Fury.

Doumbe’s Kickboxing Pedigree

Doumbe, a French MMA world champion, has only boxed once before, in 2015. Paul acknowledged the danger, calling Doumbe a two-time world champion who has faced “killers his whole career” and is not scared of anyone.

Paul’s Bold Prediction

In a video posted on social media, Paul said the fight would not go the distance and promised to knock out Doumbe. “If he wins, I will hang up the gloves and call it a day, but if he loses, the man who calls himself ‘The Best’ just got beat up by a YouTuber with a titanium jaw,” Paul said.
