India secured a five-wicket victory over New Zealand in the rain-affected first ODI of the five-match series at Eden Park in Auckland on Wednesday.
Kohli's match-winning knock
Virat Kohli, on the eve of his 38th birthday, scored 74 off 51 balls for his 80th ODI half-century, steering India to a revised Duckworth-Lewis-Stern target of 143. He was eventually caught at deep square leg off Jacob Duffy.
New Zealand bowled out for 185
After losing the toss, New Zealand were dismissed for 185 in 40.2 overs. Arshdeep Singh claimed 4-70 and Gurnoor Brar took 3-44, while debutant Anshul Kamboj returned 2-22 and was named player of the match.
Kamboj shines on debut
Kamboj's two wickets in his second ODI included the opener Nathan Smith, dismissed by a spectacular one-handed diving slip catch from Kohli.
Seifert tops New Zealand scoring
Tim Seifert, replacing the concussed Devon Conway, top-scored for the hosts with 38 in his first ODI in over 18 months.
Series moves to Wellington
India lead the series 1-0. The second match is scheduled for Saturday in Wellington, with New Zealand aiming to level the contest.
