Experts have successfully deciphered the combination of a padlock recovered from a 400-year-old shipwreck, solving a centuries-old mystery through advanced CT scanning technology.
The padlock, discovered among the wreckage, had remained sealed since the vessel sank. Researchers used computed tomography to examine the internal mechanism without damaging the artifact, revealing the numeric code that had secured its contents for four centuries.
