MAGA influencers reacted with disbelief and anger as President Donald Trump suffered a crushing defeat in Tuesday's midterm elections, with Democrats poised to take control of both the House and Senate.
Influencers express shock and blame
Prominent conservative voices on X, including Matt Van Swol and Jack Posobiec, questioned how Democrats were winning seats previously considered safe. Posobiec, a senior editor at Human Events, framed the losses as a threat from Marxism, though no communist candidates ran. Tim Pool described the results as a "blue great mud flood."
Base blames Senate GOP leadership
Several influencers, such as Bo Loudon and Joey Mannarino, blamed Republican senators for failing to pass the SAVE America Act, which would require proof of citizenship for voter registration. Non-citizens are already barred from voting in federal elections. Sean Davis, CEO of The Federalist, called for Senate GOP leadership to resign, citing incompetence.
Democrats win key Senate races
Democrats secured victories in several high-profile Senate contests, including James Talarico in Texas, Roy Cooper in North Carolina, Annie Andrews in South Carolina, Josh Turek in Iowa, Adam Hamilton in Kansas, and Sherrod Brown in Ohio.
Trump shifts blame
On Truth Social, Trump insisted he was not on the ballot and claimed he would have won in a landslide if he had been, attempting to distance himself from the Republican losses.
