Billy Evans Clears Up 'You Can See Everything' Misconceptions

By Fatma Younis

Billy Evans, the partner of convicted Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes, has used an "ask me anything" session on X to address what he calls the biggest misconception from the documentary "You Can See Everything": that he controls Holmes.

Evans Denies Controlling Holmes

In response to a follower's question, Evans wrote that the idea he controls Holmes would be "hilarious" to anyone who knows her. He described her as fiercely independent and strong-willed, emphasizing they are partners in every sense who challenge each other and face the world together.

Power of Attorney Clarified

Evans explained that his power of attorney was a legal mechanism allowing him to act on Holmes's behalf while she is incarcerated, not a substitute for her consent. He said they discuss everything, including social media, and that nothing happened behind her back.

Cocaine Allegations Addressed

Evans also denied viewer speculation that he was under the influence of cocaine during filming, stating he has never been a fan of the drug. He attributed his appearance to solo parenting two toddlers and severe allergies in Austin, Texas.

Documentary Breaks Box Office Records

Directed by Nathan Fielder and Lance Oppenheim, "You Can See Everything" follows Holmes in the month before she began her 11-year prison sentence in May 2023. The film earned $15 million in its North American opening weekend, more than double projections, becoming the highest-grossing nonmusical documentary since "Fahrenheit 9/11" in 2004.
