Former West Point Cadet Sued for Forced Abortion

By Sohaib Shams

A former West Point cadet who pleaded guilty to drugging his pregnant girlfriend and forcing her to take abortion pills in 2022 is now facing a civil lawsuit filed by the victim, identified as Jane Doe, for assault and battery.

Guilty Plea and Sentencing

Caleb Suh pleaded guilty in June to assault resulting in substantial bodily injury to a dating partner, a federal crime under maritime or territorial jurisdiction. He is currently attending a graduate program at Columbia University while awaiting sentencing in January at the U.S. District Court in Manhattan. Columbia University declined to comment, citing federal student privacy laws.

Details of the Assault

According to the lawsuit filed on October 28, Jane Doe was a freshman cadet at West Point when she became pregnant with Suh's child. After she refused to terminate the pregnancy, Suh repeatedly demanded she do so and threatened suicide. He impersonated her to obtain medication from an online pharmacy, then gave her a protein shake laced with Xanax. As she drifted in and out of consciousness, Suh forced abortion pills into her mouth and vagina. Doe awoke in severe pain and bleeding, was hospitalized, and learned she had miscarried.

Lawsuit Filed by Victim

The civil complaint, filed by attorneys Russell Kornblith and Lily White, alleges Doe has sustained physical injury, monetary damages, pain and suffering, psychological distress, humiliation, and loss of career fulfillment. She is seeking unspecified monetary compensation and an acknowledgment that she was the victim of assault and battery. Suh's attorney declined to comment on the lawsuit.
