The final studio recording by Welsh singer Bonnie Tyler will be released on 13 November as a Christmas single, her husband Robert Sullivan announced. Tyler, known for hits such as “Total Eclipse of the Heart” and “Holding Out for a Hero,” died in July at age 75 after an illness.

Husband Shares Details

Sullivan, a former Olympic judo athlete married to Tyler for 50 years, said she “poured her whole heart into these songs” and continued working until her death, only pausing during the Covid pandemic. The track, “Love, Light and Peace,” was written by Chrissie Hammond and Terry Britten, who also produced it with David Mackey. Britten had worked with Tyler since her 1977 debut album.

Career and Honors

Born Gaynor Hopkins in Skewen, Wales, in 1951, Tyler rose to fame after being scouted in 1975. Her signature husky voice made her one of Wales’s most successful musical exports, topping the UK singles chart in 1983. She earned three Grammy nominations, three Brit Award nominations, and was awarded an MBE in 2023. Her final album, “The Best Is Yet to Come,” was released in 2021.

Final Months

Tyler died in a Portuguese hospital in July 2026 following emergency intestinal surgery and an induced coma. Her family said she “unexpectedly passed away” three weeks after showing signs of improvement. A celebration of life was held at Swansea Minster in August. She had been scheduled to tour Europe this month for the 50th anniversary of her first chart hit, “Lost in France.”
