Alaska Voter Claims Confusion Over Two Dan Sullivans on Ballot

By Salma El-Sakka

An Alaska voter said he was confused by the appearance of two candidates named Dan Sullivan on the ballot and may have voted for the wrong one. Early voter Greg Martone told NewsNation on November 1 that he did not remember the second Dan Sullivan and feared a "brain freeze" while casting his vote.

The incumbent Republican Senator Dan Sullivan faces a namesake, Dan J Sullivan, who was reportedly recruited by Democrat Mary Peltola's staff as a decoy to confuse voters, according to The New York Times. Peltola has denied the report. On the ballot, Dan J Sullivan appears above the Republican incumbent, who is labeled "Registered Republican, incumbent."
