Country singer Nicole Taylor, one-third of the triplet group Taylor Red, has died at the age of 35 after a battle with breast cancer. Her sisters and bandmates Natalie and Nika Taylor announced her death in a YouTube video, saying she passed away on September 28 at her home in Nashville, Tennessee.
Diagnosis and battle
Nicole Taylor was diagnosed with stage three breast cancer in 2022, which later progressed to stage four. Her sister Nika described the disease as “very aggressive” and said Nicole was “very black and white with what she believed and she wasn’t one to overthink too much.” The sisters said they were “shocked and heartbroken” but thankful that she is now at peace and no longer suffering.
Band history
The triplets, who hail from Hurley, Mississippi, formed the band in 2010 under the name Red Roots. They released their first album, Red Roots, in 2011, followed by The Middle of Nowhere and Triplicity. The group changed its name to Taylor Red in 2018 and is signed to Inpop Records, a Christian music label based in Nashville. Their YouTube channel has amassed more than 16 million subscribers.
Tributes
Natalie and Nika Taylor described their sister as their “fearless leader” and the first to learn drums growing up. They thanked fans for their prayers and the medical team who cared for Nicole. “We are heartbroken, but we know she is in Heaven and will see her again,” they said.
