Badenoch Defends Tory Inheritance Tax Plan, Cites £70bn Welfare Savings

By Islam El-Sakka

UK Business Secretary Kemi Badenoch appeared on the BBC’s “Sunday with Laura Kuenssberg” program to defend the Conservative Party’s proposal to scrap inheritance tax on family homes. She said the party’s main offer to voters is “fiscal responsibility” and “living within our means.”

Savings from welfare and civil service

Badenoch stated that the Conservatives have identified £70 billion in savings, the bulk of which would come from cuts to welfare programmes. She added that further money would be found by reducing the size of the civil service and merging some government departments.
