President Donald Trump repeatedly shouted “shut up” at a protester who interrupted his midterm campaign rally Friday at the Ocean Center in Daytona Beach, Florida. The heckler began yelling just minutes into Trump’s speech, though the exact content of the protest was unclear.
Trump’s response and rally context
“By the way, there’s never been such excitement for a midterm,” Trump said before pointing toward the crowd and shouting: “Shut up! Shut up, dope.” He added, “Shut up, loser. What a loser. Get him out of here,” as the man was escorted from the venue amid boos. The incident marks the latest in a series of disruptions at Trump’s rallies in the weeks leading up to the midterm elections, with protesters drawing varied responses from the president.
