Armenian Parliament Brawls Over Proposed 'Ministry of Sex'

By Karim Hammam

A brawl erupted in the Armenian parliament on Thursday, marking the third such incident in a month, after opposition lawmakers proposed a "Ministry of Sex" to address what they claimed was a lack of sexual satisfaction driving middle-aged women into political activism.

Opposition proposal sparks chaos

The proposal came from the Strong Armenia party, led by Narek Karapetyan. According to The Telegraph, the party argued that sexual dissatisfaction was leading middle-aged women to political activism. The ruling Civil Contract party demanded an apology from Karapetyan to women for the idea, prompting the chamber to descend into a fist fight.
