Met Police refers itself to watchdog over handling of Thomas Markle allegations

By Fatma Younis

The Metropolitan Police has referred itself to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) over its handling of allegations involving Thomas Markle, the father of the Duchess of Sussex.

The self-referral concerns the force's response to claims made by Markle, though specific details of the allegations and the police actions under review have not been disclosed publicly.

The IOPC will now assess the referral to determine whether an independent investigation into the Met's conduct is warranted.
