President Donald Trump's special assistant Natalie Harp has moved her workspace to the private dining room near the Oval Office to manage a "human printer" operation ahead of next week's midterm elections, according to White House officials cited by The New York Times.
Harp's expanded role
Harp, 35, typically sits at a desk outside the Oval Office but has recently been printing hard copies of news articles and documents for the president to review. She previously referred to herself as a "human printer" in leaked letters to Trump. The president has reportedly been consuming large volumes of video clips and AI-generated content prepared by aides.
Grim mood in the West Wing
Administration insiders describe the atmosphere as "grim" and the president as "unpredictable" as Republicans face potential losses in the House and Senate. Staffers are on edge amid unfavorable polls and negative coverage that have reportedly put Trump in a dark mood during his campaign blitz across the country.
Campaign trail presence
Harp has accompanied Trump on the campaign trail, including an appearance on stage at a Nebraska rally, and is among the small circle with which the president has increasingly cloistered himself. She reportedly dictated a 1,300-word Truth Social tirade against comedian Bill Maher after Trump watched Maher's show aboard Air Force One. The president labeled Maher a "COMPLETE AND TOTAL LOSER" over a monologue referencing Trump's low approval ratings.
Pulte's growing influence
Federal Housing Finance Agency director Bill Pulte has also gained the president's ear, creating posters for Trump and Republican candidates, including one highlighting Ohio Senator Jon Husted. One official likened Pulte to a "court jester" for frequently showing Trump memes and posters aboard Air Force One.
White House pushes back
The White House denied reports of dysfunction. Spokeswoman Danielle Alvarez stated the team remains "strong, united and focused on delivering his America First agenda," emphasizing there is only one team serving the president and the American people.
