Former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro declared himself the "true president-elect" during an appearance in Miami, challenging the legitimacy of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva's victory in the 2022 election.
Bolsonaro, who has been living in Florida since late December, made the statement in a video clip lasting one minute and 19 seconds. He did not provide evidence for his claim, which echoes his previous unsubstantiated allegations of electoral fraud.
The former president left Brazil two days before Lula's inauguration on January 1, skipping the traditional handover ceremony. He has remained largely out of public view since arriving in the United States.
